Health Information Management department of any health institutions is a shop window of health care service , it is a first point of call and last place of contact where we receive / welcome our patients with good customer service care , listening attentively to their equiry and complaint about services rendered by the hospital whenever they visited the facility for health care services delivery. We are the custodian of health information Data , a Data analyst , an image projector of the hospital , a research ethics unit , of course HIM department is a pivot which Training and Research revolve , there is popular saying that " Information is Power " and that is our professional slogan. additionally , the department is man by highly organized skills , experience , competent , calm , reliable , hardworking professionals , a Computer finisher , proficient in Electronic Health Records System , Data entry and Data retrieval both manually and Electronically , with great passion and enthusiasm toward the welfare of the patients , a positive attitude staffs taking pride on work getting tasks done according to a strict deadline , Confidentiality is always our watchword.
Services Rendered .
HIM Department operate 24/7 shifts scheduled especially in our Accident & Emergency unit and NHIS Clinic ( National Health Insurance Authority Clinic) which provide health insurance coverage to Citizens of the country , where Ondo State provides a Scheme called " Ondo State Contributing Health Commission Scheme ( ORANGHIS ) and Abiyamo Scheme ( i.e prevention of Maternal & Perinatal and Neonatal Death ) , in addition our General Outpatient Clinic and Specialty Clinic .
Relevant of the Department.
* Efficient Records keeping and Records Management.
* Making patients feel comfortable and welcome whenever they arrive at the health care facility.
* Resolving Clients inquiry or complaint , reminding the patients by phone or email their upcoming appointment in order to get them prepared ahead.
* Booking / Scheduling of appointment.
* Attention to details in order to ensure Data accuracy.
* Data collection , collation , storage , retrieval , assembly , analysis , filing and retention of Medical records / Data.
* Updating records , database and tracking for compliance.
* Ensuring qualitative and quantitative health care service delivery.
* Auditing Medical records for completeness and accuracy , also compliance with legal & ethical requirements.
* Coding and indexing , abstracting clinical diagnostics , diseases , surgical procedures carried-out on all in-patients and out-patients attendance , assigning them appropriate code number by using ICD 10 manual , CPT , HCPCS & modifiers codes , in addition billing accurately health insurance claims for reimbursement.
* Scrutinized all Medical records for any discrepancy committed by the Medical team if any , taken necessary action for adequate correction by the parties involved.
* Keeping and handling all protective health information confidential from being access by unauthorized person ( i. e Data privacy, patients privacy and Confidentiality policy ) .
* Statistical Data Collation , reporting on monthly and annual basis to state Ministry of health.
* Epidemiology Survey , and prompt notification of all communicable cases to appropriate quarters for quick intervention.
* Monitoring and Evaluation of disease trends , assessment of incidence & prevalence rate of diseases , cases and alerting appropriate stakeholders for quick intervention.
* We are well- versed in HIPAA regulations laws , policies and protocols that govern Data security , confidentiality , patients privacy , retention & preservation and disposal of health records.
* All other additional responsibilities as required.

b) protecting the image of the hospital and earning the hospital a good public reputation by preventing liability , legal claims , damages as a result of professionals negligence.
c) Ensuring that access to health informations is done on request or on authorization.
d ) handling and safeguiding all health information , privileged information of the patients both in paper form or Digital format confidentially.
e ) Full adherence with laid down policies , protocols of the institution.
