Welcome to the Accident and Emergency Department at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Akure. I am Dr. Olagbemide Olanrewaju Joel, the Head of Department, I am a consultant family physician, and I am pleased to introduce you to our department. As the showcase and largest department in the hospital, we proudly serve approximately 200 patients weekly. Our dedicated team of well-trained medical officers provide top-notch care, stabilizing and transferring patients to specialized units for further management when necessary. We also expertly manage and discharge patients as appropriate.

Our department is equipped with state-of-the-art life-sustaining machines, including respirators, monitors, nebulizers, AED and more. Additionally, we have a mini-theatre for prompt trauma care. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Accident and Emergency Department is accredited by Medical and Dental council of Nigeria for the training of House Officers and By Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria as well as West Africa college of Physicians/Surgeons for training of Resident Doctors.
